Lara (L3*)

Lara probably lived around 100,000 years ago in what is now Kenya or Ethiopia, and is a descendant of Mitochondrial Eve. Lara has been identified as the maternal ancestor of the rest of the human population outside the African continent due to a single group of people emigrating from Africa to the Arabian peninsula some 80,000 years ago. Thus she did not leave Africa herself, but a number of her descendants did.

The following clan mothers have been identified as descendants of Lara.
